JetPack Aviation Statue of Liberty

Must have been an interesting sight for the folks heading home that day on the Staten Island Ferry.

JetPack Aviation’s David Mayman was spotted on November 3rd, toodling around the bay in front of the Statue of Liberty in New York City in his JETPACK because, oh right, it’s 2015 so it’s the future now.

What? I’m not joking. I would never do that to you.

Mayman and Nelson Tyler (who looks MORE THAN A LITTLE like Doctor Emmett Brown from Back to the Future), the co-creators of the JB-9 jetpack, have been testing and developing their personal jetpack for nearly 40 years, and claim that they’re extremely close to creating a portable, functional, affordable, lightweight jetpack, the JB-10.

Here’s to you, gents, for ushering in the future and successfully avoiding a dip in the Hudson. Because yeeeuuchhh.
